Lost Insurance! Now What?

Despite hubby's being off work for his injuries, they laid him off! He will still get short & long term disability payments, but now neither of us has insurance!
I had begun my dietician and exercise stuff, but with just medicare I can't continue that. Now What? Also I will need to change surgeons, to someone in Harrisburg or Hershey, which is 2+ hours from home.

I feel like just giving up and living fat!

Actually, if you have medicare you don't even need approval.  All you need is to fit their guidelines and find a surgeon who accepts medicare.  Medicare doesn't make you do a program before surgery.  If your income is low enough you can possibly get help with your co pays too.
Don't give up.

You should also get the option to take COBRA. You can take it just for yourself if you hubby doesn need it.

Also I would see what medicare rules are regarding WLS. Like the PP, I think they dont require as much as other companies. good luck!!!

If you have medicare, you can get a medicare advantage plan that will cover your WLS for small copays. Open enrollement ends Dec. 31st. My advice is to get into a medicare advantage program, most of them are no cost, and they have the same rules as Medicare but it's run like an HMO (most of them at least), meaning you have to use in net work providers.

PS i would look into getting the cobra thing too.
